Rancho Cucamonga, CA – On February 5th, 2025, Cardiac Insight Inc. and Who We Play For successfully hosted a heart screening event at EM Speed & Power Training (Rancho Cucamonga location), providing cardiac screenings for young athletes in the Pomona Unified School District community. The event, aimed at detecting underlying heart conditions that could lead to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), saw an impressive turnout, and reinforced the importance of proactive cardiac health assessments.
Over the course of the event, dozens of participants underwent electrocardiogram (ECG) screenings administered by trained professionals. These screenings, which go beyond standard physical exams, are critical in identifying potential cardiac abnormalities that might otherwise go undetected.
The event utilized the Cardea 20/20 ECG system, known for its accuracy and reliability. With the lowest false positive rate of ~2% —significantly lower than other products, which can be as high as 30%—Cardea 20/20 ensures more precise results. Improved accuracy leads to fewer errors that sideline athletes who aren’t truly at risk, reducing the burden of unnecessary follow-up testing.

During the event, 68 young athletes were screened, with 3 requiring further evaluation, reinforcing the need for comprehensive cardiac assessments.

Adding to the significance of the event, Dino Ebel, third base coach and outfield coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers, attended and participated in the heart screening event to show his support for young athletes and their well-being. His presence underscored the importance of heart screenings and proactive health measures for aspiring athletes.
The event not only provided cardiac screenings but also raised awareness about the importance of early detection. Participants and their families received essential information about the screening process and the significance of early detection for heart conditions.
