Cardiac Insight Appoints Renowned Cardiologist Dr. Victor Froelicher as New Chief Medical Officer

Seattle, WA – [8/5/2024] – Cardiac Insight, a leading innovator in advanced ECG technology, is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Victor Froelicher as the company’s new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Froelicher, an Emeritus Professor of Medicine, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in cardiology, clinical exercise physiology, and sports medicine to the Cardiac Insight team.

Dr. Froelicher began his distinguished career at the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, where he performed cardiac screenings for pilots, astronauts, and military athletes. Over the years, he has established himself as an international expert in clinical exercise physiology, ECGs, and the exercise sciences. He is a co-author of the widely acclaimed textbook “Exercise and the Heart” and has been a major consultant to Stanford Sports Medicine since 1992, participating in the pre-participation exams of all Stanford athletes and professional teams under their care.

Dr. Froelicher has made significant contributions to the field of sports cardiology. He led the writing group for the first international document to specify ECG criteria that lower the false positive rate for screening athletes for sudden cardiac death and has been a key participant in the Seattle Criteria meetings. He is also a co-author of a chapter in the Olympic Committee’s 2017 Cardiology Manual.

In addition to his academic and clinical achievements, Dr. Froelicher has maintained an educational web page (www.cardiology.org) since 2008 and initiated the ECG screening program at Stanford, which is now mandated by the Athletic Department. He served as the Director of the Sports Cardiology Clinic at Stanford until his recent transition to a consulting role.

Dr. Froelicher’s extensive research background includes seminal work on the screening of asymptomatic USAF aircrewmen, the cardiovascular effects of cardiac rehabilitation, and prognostic studies in veterans. He has developed cardiology databases for follow-up studies of veterans and was a Co-Principal Investigator for the VA Co-operative Study of Quantitative Exercise Testing and Angiography (QUEXTA).

In his new role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Froelicher will oversee Cardiac Insight’s medical initiatives, providing strategic guidance on clinical research and development, and supporting the company’s mission to enhance cardiac care through innovative solutions.
